Family
Where can we have our family session?
At home – cosy, relaxed, and personal, capturing your family in your own space doing things you enjoy.
On location – beautiful outdoor settings with natural light, open skies and seasonal backdrops. We have an abundance of beautiful locations in our area.
In studio – timeless, weather-proof, and distraction-free. Added bonus, no cleaning required, love that for you.
What’s the best time of day for photos?
It depends on the look you are after and the time of day your family is happiest to be photographed. Anytime is good for photos but if you are after a specific look we might have to schedule in a time to get the right light for you. For outdoor sessions, the hour after sunrise or before sunset gives us that golden glowy light. The hour following sunset is blue hour and gives soft cinematic light and a moodier look. Direct sun gives us high energy vibes. Studio and in-home sessions can be scheduled for the time of day when your family feels most relaxed and settled in for fun.
What should we wear?
Co-ordinate rather than match. There are no real rules here. It is entirely dependant upon your personal taste and style. Avoid large logos if you can because we don't want brands to become the focus. I ask families to make a pinterest board together of the vibe of images they like. It's not about the poses but about the feel. From this you will usually be able to see the type of clothing that works for your vibe and use it to go from there. I usually say dress yourself first, make sure you feel comfortable and happy with the style you are going for then you can coordinate everyone else to suit.
What if my kids don't co-operate?
That’s completely normal, and part of the magic! I work with your children’s vibe on the day because we know it can be a wild time trying to wrangle little ones. We can incorporate games, activities and prompts so they feel free to be themselves. Sometimes the unplanned moments become the best images so don't stress to much about this. The more relaxed you are, the more relaxed they will become. Just enjoy the moment, i'll do my best to manage the rest.
Who is included in a family session? Do you do extended family groups?
Family sessions can include you, your partner and all your children. If you would like an extended family session I can absolutely arrange one of those too, I quite often do them for grandparent gifts and family reunions so there is absolutely no dramas there. Extended sessions can include grandparents, cousins, and multiple households. Just let me know when booking so I can allow extra time. For extended sessions we have a base rate and add $100 per family.

Whether we’re capturing your crew at home, adventuring on location, or creating timeless studio portraits, my goal is to make this experience easy, fun, and stress free as possible for all you busy parents out there.

When is the best time for newborn photos?
I photograph little ones at any age but if you would like that fresh newborn sleepy stage then I recommend booking between 6-14 days old. This can be tricky to time, they like to come when they please, so if you let us know your due date and we will put in a flexible time and you can touch base when bub is here.
How long do newborn sessions usually take?
Typically anywhere from 1.5–2 hours, allowing time for feeding, cuddles, and settling. I work around your baby’s needs—there’s no rush. I ensure there is enough time incase we end up taking a little longer, babies run to their own schedules and thats totally fine.
Can siblings and pets be involved?
Absolutely. Siblings are welcome, and I’ll plan the session flow so they can be involved without long waits. Fur babies are such a treat and part of the family, I love animals and welcome them to your session.
What should I bring to a newborn session?
Anything baby needs, a spare set of clothes for you and bub (poosplosions and upchucks are a part of life with bubs around), any sentimental items you might like to have in photos. If at home I like to use what you have in your environment. I have a small selection of neutral styling items and blankets in the studio that we use but if you would like something specific please chat with me about it and we will come up with a plan.
